Sumollades
Motivations

100% SUMOLL from the Ametller vineyard.
Planted in the municipality of Piera, on an east-facing slope, between two streams, with very poor, calcareous soil, with "cat's brain" or rhizoconcretions. With a majestic almond tree in the middle that took up half the vineyard, and a water tank where wild boars went to drink.
Very old vineyard, half-abandoned, with a carpet of herbs and flowers of all colors all year round, pruned in traditional goblet style, very low yield, with very fragile and delicate vines.
The harvest, always difficult to select, was part of our Collita Roja or our Sumoll Rosat for many years.
2015, a dry year with an especially cold winter and a hot summer, was the last year of this vineyard's life.
We harvested about a thousand kg of grapes in that hectare and decided to make a unique and unrepeatable wine, all bottled in magnum format. An authentic, sincere, direct wine, overflowing with energy.
Now we offer it to you to enjoy. But at Celler Pardas, we will always keep a few bottles, because as long as there is wine to drink, this vineyard will remain alive.

Vineyards:

Ametller vineyard. A 0.9 ha plot of Sumoll, planted in 1959 with Rupestris de Lot in the municipality of Piera in the Anoia valley.

Soils:

very poor, calcareous, with "cat's brain" or rhizoconcretions

Farming:

Organic farming. No herbicides, insecticides, or synthetic products are used in any of the vineyards cultivated for Sumollades. We practice no-till farming: we do not plow the soil and work with spontaneous cover crops to protect it.

Harvest:

100% hand-harvested on September 18, 2015. 20 kg plastic crates.

Vinification:

Destemmed and gravity-filled. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks. 14 days with skins, 12 days once fermented. 26 days in total.

Aging:

6 and a half months. Used 500-liter barrel (500 liters), 200 liters in stainless steel.
